The Railway, Ipswich - 16th January 2004

Well, another classic night at the Railway, with a bumper crowd turning out to see whether there was any truth in Jonny M's announcement at the last gig of 2003 that he was leaving the band. Sadly for all concerned with promoting sanity in the workplace, it turned out to be another case of "How do you know when Jonny's talking b***s***?" "Because you see his lips move..." Jonny quickly resumed his usual position of laying on his back pretending to play, leaving most people wondering how many G & T's he'd had on the way up to the gig.

Sparki spent part of the evening admonishing the crowd for their lack of energy, before realising subsequently that it was in fact the band that were tired and shagged out having celebrated New Year a little too vigourously and hadn't yet quite recovered. So apologies to all for a slightly below par performance from everyone except me, and they'll all try harder next time.

No new songs this time, although relative newcomers 'No-one Knows' (Queens Of The Stone Age), and 'Tainted Love' seemed to go down well, along with 'Ace of Spades', once we'd realised that that was in fact what Jonny had started to play when the rest of us were expecting him to go into the old classic 'Shaddup You Face'.

Once again the atmosphere in the pub left us looking forward with enthusiasm for our next Railway gig, when we hope to be unveiling a few more timeless classics given the RiffRaff treatment (ie butchered beyond recognition).
